Stephen Pimm - Yelvertoft Ward

Stephen Pimm

Stephen currently works in a local supermarket after a previous role as an Assistant Manager working in his family's Garden Centre business for 5 years.

He lives on a narrowboat near Yelvertoft. "I love living in the countryside," he said, "It makes you appreciate what you have around with the peace and quiet it brings and how important it is to protect and maintain it".

Part of the reason Stephen moved to a narrowboat was due to the lack of affordable homes in the area for first-time buyers such as him and his partner. "More affordable, low-cost housing and help to buy or rent schemes are desperately needed." He said "It is a scandal that the current Conservative run Council keeps relaxing its own requirements on developers providing low-cost housing within any new scheme. We need more low-cost housing and not big houses local residents can't afford."

Stephen joined the Liberal Democrats to build a fairer and more just society. Having grown up in a village he is very aware of how villages and rural areas can suffer from the lack of bus services and public services as well as things to do for young people and often seemingly being at the bottom of the list for road repairs and area improvements.
