The Candidate in the forthcoming County Council Election on May 4th. is

Mike Cobbe

Mike cobbe

Mike is a recently retired consulting civil engineer and geologist who moved to this area 44 years ago to work with the County Highways & Transportation Department. Since 1983 he has worked in the private sector with professional interests in waste management, highways, sewerage & drainage, contaminated land remediation and re-development. His main interests outside Lib Dem campaigning are helping run Ravensthorpe Village Cinema, walking, cycling and motorcycling - so he has more than a passing interest in the condition of the County's highways and byways. As a civil engineer, Mike is particularly aware of the lack of adequate road maintenance under the Conservatives which may have saved money while they were in office but which gives rise to a huge bill in the future to carry out widespread reconstruction to keep our roads passable. This is an issue to which Mike would apply himself if elected. However, he recognises that road conditions are just symptomatic of the collapse of our public services due to the lack of investment by the Conservatives to achieve short-term political gain through zero rate rises. Vote Liberal Democrat to oppose further collapse and start reconstruction of our services.

The Candidate in the District Council Election on May 4th. is:-

Neil Farmer

Neil Farmer

Neil is a recently retired Applications Manager for a Geographical Information System Company, having worked with the Company for 28 years, which involved supporting Computer Applications in over 18 local authorities. Previously he used to work for Northampton Borough Engineers and Northamptonshire County Council on all aspects of Highways, from Traffic Engineering to Road design and ending up supporting Computer Modelling for Roads. He has lived in Long Buckby for 29 years having previously been in Northampton all his life. Neil's wife was a teacher for Northamptonshire County Council including Long Buckby, before becoming a specialist support teacher until the County closed the team down in one of their many cutbacks. Recently we have come up against the County Council Social Care Teams and support, so combining all our knowledge we have a wide depth of the current failings of the County Council. For his leisure, he has a golden retriever for healthy walks and enjoys searching quiet and remote areas in the British Isles. Vote Liberal Democrat to oppose further collapse and start reconstruction of the services we should expect and pay for.
