Alan Knape - Abbey North

Alan KnapeAlan is a family man, with two young children, and has lived and worked in Daventry since 2011.

Alan has a good knowledge of the local community and is supportive of the Town and the wider district and wants to improve life for the people of Daventry and Northamptonshire. Alan is currently serving on Daventry Town Council, he is seeking to be elected for the Town Council Abbey Central ward and would like to further represent the people of the Town on the District Abbey North Ward.

Alan commented, 'The current Conservative administration, who have been in power for 19 years, fail to listen to the people of Daventry. The best example is the canal arm which has been rejected by the people many times and they are currently planning to spend £15 million of taxpayers' money on this scheme. They currently control the council with 30 out of the 36 councillors so with such a majority they can push through whatever they want with little scrutiny.'

The Conservatives have just increased council tax levied by DDC by over 10% for residents of Daventry Town and they have admitted that this is down to previous bad accounting. The leader of the council even said this was a good deal for residents of Daventry as unlike other areas of the district, we don't pay for our own street lights. Street lights in Daventry are the responsibility of the county council, how can the leader of our district not even know what each council pays for!

Alan regularly campaigns for improvements in Daventry but struggles to get changes through, if you elect Alan as your local Councillor he will have more power to get things done for you.

For a real alternative, vote for Alan Knape and the Liberal Democrats at the Daventry District Council election on Thursday 3rd May.
